How Do We Develop the Next Generation?

The alarm industry is a growing, dynamic business that fills an important need for many. Alarm technology is constantly changing at rapid paces and new competitive challenges seem to come along every day. You need an inside track to keep ahead. The Burglar and Fire Alarm Association of Michigan (BFAAM) is that inside track.

For our annual conference. The conference will be hosted at BFAAM Headquarters in Lansing, MI. We are excited to return to the Detroit area, at a new location with revitalized content!

During the conference, we will be bringing the issues we all face to the forefront and work together to solve them. We will hear directly from the Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) department concerning how they will effect our industry moving forward as well as job resources to available to us. Dan Decker will be on site to review the BFAAM Apprenticeship Program and what steps need to be taken to become a certified technician. Lastly, we will focus on how to bridge the gap between college placement services and our businesses. The steps to build our future are all available during this conference, don't miss this opportunity!

10:30 a.m.  - 11:00 a.m. Legislative Update
Updates on our legislative agenda and what we can expect after the election in a few weeks. 

11:00 a.m.  - 11:15 a.m. Break and Visit Exhibitors

11:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)  - Part 1
Find out how we can work better with the LARA department. We will discuss the recently adopted repeal of the prevailing wage law in Michigan and how it will effect your business.

12:00 p.m.  - 12:30 p.m. Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA)  - Part 2
Explore the Michigan Department of Talent and Economic Development (TED) which assists in overseeing numerous job resources. Part of the Department is the Michigan State Approving Agency (MISAA), specifically geared towards apprenticeship promotion. This department assists in tools that enable veterans to receive benefits during employment and training. How does this effect you? Come listen and hear for yourself.
