LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT In my last Letter from the President, I focused on two important issues that concern both the Fire side of our business and the Security side. Amazingly, we have even more news to report.
I am excited to share with you that we are continuing our focus on helping you become more profitable as a business. We have some incredible speakers and trainers joining us for the Fall Meeting.
Here is your line-up:
We start our day off with Ron Davis. An industry icon and a long-time friend of BFAAM will be showcasing his brand new presentation that is tailored to alarm company owners. Ron promises to be entertaining, informative and thought provoking – don’t miss this one!
We follow this with two ways to make more money for you.
First, we have a very rare opportunity to increase the value and profits of your company. At our Spring Meeting we brought in some actual Dealers to share their take on Service Agreements and how to use them effectively and profitably.
For this meeting we are brining out the ‘hired guns’. We have contracted with Joe Siderowicz of AfterMarket Consulting Group. Joe specializes in working directly with service companies to design and implement Service Agreements. His presentation is titled ‘Service Agreements, How They are Offered, How They Are Priced’.
Our last meeting showed why you might want to offer Service Agreements, Joe will show you how to do it right and make more money.
Second, the future is here now and IP Cameras promise higher profits. Have you started selling them yet? Thought about it? Let BFAAM help you. We have three speakers lined up to help you will all aspects of IP Camera systems. Camera selection, system design, software vs. traditional DVR. – we have the answers for you.
Bring your Salespeople to this one. Bring your Technicians too! There will be plenty of information to go around and your company will leave prepared to take the next step in this exciting new arena.
Remember, IP Camera systems are not the future – it is the NOW!
On the Fire side of the business, we have some very important changes coming towards us and they will impact you directly.
#1 Code Updates Many of you just finished your last code update course and believe it or not, you will be required to take another in 2010. There is good news though, our very own Dan Decker will be instructing the BFAAM Code Update course and it will focus on your specific needs as Fire Specialist and not simply the standard electrical code update material.
#2 Asbestos Training It’s required and we have a certified trainer – bring your technical staff and get updated.
#3 Apprenticeship – Fire Alarm Coming soon – you must have any Technician that services / installs a fire device to be either licensed or registered in a federally approved Apprenticeship Program. Even if you only perform Security work this will affect you if you want to install a smoke detector.
The details are just being released and it looks as if the program will become effective in 2010. We will have more detailed information for you at the meeting on this topic.
#4 New Fire Alarm License issue There is a bill working it’s way through Lansing that is being pushed by the sprinkler fitters union that potentially could affect some fire alarm installations. BFAAM has been actively working on this issue and it looks as if we are making progress. Again, we should know more for the October Meeting.
Join us October 8th to keep yourself up-to-date on industry trends and important news. Learn the secrets to improve your customer service, be more profitable and increase the value of your company. You get this all in one place!
Initial response for this event has been very high and we have limited seating. I look forward to seeing you on the 8th - please register today so that you do not miss this one.
I’ll see you the 8th.
